Collection: Class 6: Toxic and Infectious substances

Class 6 hazard labels are used to identify toxic and infectious substances classified as dangerous goods during transport. These materials can pose serious health risks through inhalation, ingestion or skin contact, and may also contain pathogens capable of causing disease in humans or animals. Typical examples include medical samples, clinical waste, certain pesticides, toxic chemicals, diagnostic specimens and laboratory materials.

To ensure safe handling and regulatory compliance, Class 6 is divided into two divisions, each representing a specific type of hazard:

Divisions6.1 – Toxic Substances: Chemicals and materials that can cause severe harm or death if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through the skin. Examples include cyanides, arsenic compounds, toxic pesticides and industrial poisons.

Divisions 6.2 – Infectious Substances: Materials containing pathogens such as bacteria, viruses or parasites. This includes UN 2814, UN 2900, Category A infectious substances, diagnostic samples and certain medical waste streams.

Each Class 6 label features the appropriate hazard symbol, the division number (6.1 or 6.2) and the standardised colour background: white for toxic substances and white with biohazard symbol for infectious substances. These labels are mandatory for compliant transport under IATA/DGR, ADR, IMDG, ADN and RID regulations, ensuring clear identification across air, road, sea, rail and inland waterways.

Class 6 labels are essential for laboratories, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, chemical distributors, waste management operators, logistics providers and any business handling or shipping toxic or infectious materials.

We offer Class 6 labels in polypropylene (100×100 mm and 100×135 mm) and vinyl placards (250×250 mm and 300×300 mm), available with text, without text or customised on‑demand printing.
