Collection: Class 2: Gases

Class 2 hazard labels are used to identify gases classified as dangerous goods during transport. These labels apply to compressed gases, liquefied gases, refrigerated liquefied gases and dissolved gases that may present flammability, toxicity, oxidising properties or pressure‑related hazards. Typical examples include propane cylinders, butane cartridges, oxygen bottles, aerosols, acetylene, carbon dioxide and various industrial or medical gases.

To ensure safe handling and full regulatory compliance, Class 2 is divided into three divisions, each representing a different type of risk:

Class 2.1 – Flammable Gases: Includes gases that ignite easily, such as propane, butane, hydrogen and many aerosol products.

Class 2.2 – Non‑Flammable, Non‑Toxic Gases: Covers gases that are not flammable or toxic but may still pose pressure or asphyxiation hazards, such as nitrogen, helium, compressed air and CO₂.

Class 2.3 – Toxic Gases: Includes gases that are poisonous or harmful to health, such as chlorine, phosgene or ammonia in certain concentrations.

Each Class 2 label features the appropriate hazard symbol, the division number (2.1, 2.2 or 2.3) and the standardised colour background: red for flammable gases, green for non‑flammable gases and white for toxic gases. These labels are mandatory for the safe and compliant transport of gases under IATA/DGR, ADR, IMDG, ADN and RID regulations, ensuring clear identification across air, road, sea, rail and inland waterways.

Class 2 labels are essential for logistics operators, chemical distributors, industrial suppliers, laboratories, warehouses and any business involved in the handling or shipment of gas cylinders, pressure vessels or aerosol products.
