UN 3552 sodium ion battery mark — batteries in equipment, durable, BS5609 approved

This is the battery mark, pre-printed with "UN 3552" — the entry for sodium ion batteries contained in, or packed with, equipment. It is applied to packages and overpacks so your shipment is clearly identified in transport by air, road, sea, inland waterway and rail, showing the battery symbol together with the applicable UN number.

The mark is printed on durable polypropylene (100 × 100 mm) with a permanent self-adhesive backing and is BS5609 approved — the standard for marine-durable labels — so the print and adhesive withstand seawater, abrasion and weathering during long IMDG sea journeys.

When do you need it?

Sodium ion is a newer UN entry that brings these batteries under the same battery provisions as lithium. The battery mark identifies packages and overpacks that contain sodium ion batteries in or with equipment, and is required for shipments prepared under the Section II provisions of the current regulations. It meets the specifications of the IATA DGR (air), ADR (road), IMDG (sea), ADN (inland waterways) and RID (rail). Fully regulated shipments also require the Class 9 battery hazard label.
