There are five, and none of them asks you for an account. The 1.1.3.6 calculator works out the partial exemption known as the thousand-point rule and also checks limited and excepted quantities. The ADR substance lookup returns the Table A entry for a UN number: class, packing group, labels, LQ and EQ, transport category, tunnel code and the orange plate number. The un-box calculator tells you which UN packaging code a combination packaging needs, including the case where what covers your inner packagings is a 4GV and not a 4G. The dry ice calculator estimates how much dry ice an insulated box calls for over a given temperature and transit time. And the Spanish circulation checker reads the RIMP together with the separate rules of the Basque Country and Navarre, to tell you what applies to a dangerous goods vehicle on a given date.
ADR 1.8.3.1 requires undertakings whose activities include the consignment or the carriage of dangerous goods by road, or the packing, loading, filling or unloading connected with that carriage, to appoint one or more safety advisers. 1.8.3.2 then allows the competent authority of each contracting party to disapply that obligation, in particular for undertakings whose relevant activities stay within the limits of 1.1.3.6 and 1.7.1.4 and of chapters 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5, and for those that only occasionally carry out such operations, with a low danger or risk of pollution. Because the exemption is a national one, the answer depends on the country: Portugal, for instance, adds a ceiling of 50 tonnes a year for occasional national operations, and also exempts an undertaking that is merely the consignee of national carriage.
Use them to prepare and to check, not to decide. ADR 1.4.2.1.1 puts the obligation on the consignor: to hand over for carriage only consignments that conform to the requirements of the ADR and, in particular, to ascertain that the dangerous goods are classified and authorised for carriage.
