Orange plate 400 × 300 mm with centre line — for the hazard identification number and the UN number

Blank orange-coloured plate, 400 mm wide × 300 mm high, with the 15 mm black border and the 15 mm horizontal centre line that separates the hazard identification number (upper half) from the UN number (lower half). It is the plate the ADR and RID require on tank vehicles, tank-containers, portable tanks, MEGCs and vehicles or containers carrying dangerous goods in bulk, and the plate used at the front and rear of every transport unit carrying dangerous goods.

Supplied blank — without digits. Add the numbers with our self-adhesive digits (100 mm high, 15 mm stroke, as ADR 5.3.2.2.2 requires) or order the plate with your own numbers, 1 unit with the digits supplied loose.

What the regulation says

• ADR/RID 5.3.2.2.1: orange plate 40 cm base × 30 cm high, 15 mm black border; may be divided by a 15 mm black horizontal line. The colour must be within the chromaticity area of the NOTE to 5.3.2.2.1.
• ADR/RID 5.3.2.2.2: hazard identification number above, UN number below, black digits 100 mm high and 15 mm stroke.
• Self-adhesive version: ADR 5.3.2.2.1 allows the plate to be replaced by a self-adhesive sheet on containers for bulk, tank-containers, MEGCs and portable tanks (fire-resistance provisions do not apply to this alternative marking). This vinyl is not retro-reflective: for the front and rear plates of the vehicle itself the ADR requires a reflectorised plate.
• IMDG 5.3.2.1: the same orange rectangular panel may carry the UN number next to the placard on cargo transport units.
