<h2>UN 3090 lithium battery mark — lithium metal batteries, durable, self-adhesive, BS5609 approved</h2>
<p>This is the lithium battery mark, pre-printed with "UN 3090" — the entry for lithium metal (primary, non-rechargeable) batteries shipped on their own. It is applied to packages and overpacks so your lithium metal batteries are clearly identified in transport by air, road, sea, inland waterway and rail, showing the battery symbol together with the applicable UN number.</p>
<p>The mark is printed on durable <strong>polypropylene (100 × 100 mm)</strong> with a permanent self-adhesive backing and is <strong>BS5609 approved</strong> — the standard for marine-durable labels — so the print and adhesive withstand seawater, abrasion and weathering during long IMDG sea journeys.</p>
<h3>When do you need it?</h3>
<p>The lithium battery mark identifies packages and overpacks that contain lithium metal batteries, and is required for batteries shipped under the Section II provisions of the current regulations. It meets the specifications of the IATA DGR (air), ADR (road), IMDG (sea), ADN (inland waterways) and RID (rail). Fully regulated shipments also require the Class 9 lithium battery hazard label.</p>
