Biological Substance Category B (UN3373) labels are used to identify packages containing infectious or potentially infectious biological materials that do not meet the criteria for Category A. These substances may include clinical samples, diagnostic specimens, patient materials, laboratory samples and other biological materials transported for testing, analysis or research.

UN3373 shipments must be clearly marked to ensure proper handling by carriers, laboratory personnel and emergency responders. The diamond‑shaped UN3373 mark with the “Biological Substance, Category B” text provides immediate recognition and ensures compliance with international transport regulations.

These labels are mandatory under IATA/DGR, ADR, IMDG, RID and ADN, supporting safe multimodal transport by air, road, sea, rail and inland waterways. They are essential for hospitals, laboratories, diagnostic centres, biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical distributors and any organisation involved in the movement of clinical or research samples.

Biological Substance Category B labels help prevent handling errors, ensure correct segregation, and support safe cold‑chain or ambient‑temperature logistics. Their use is critical in medical, veterinary, pharmaceutical and research environments where accurate identification of biological materials is required.
