Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about dangerous goods packaging, labelling, compliance and our services. Can't find your answer? Contact our team — our certified DGSA is happy to help.

What does MYDG.SHOP sell?

MYDG.SHOP is a B2B specialist in dangerous goods compliance. We supply UN-certified packaging (boxes, drums, IBCs, jerricans and temperature-controlled solutions), hazard labels and placards, dangerous goods training, and DGSA consulting — everything you need to ship dangerous goods safely by road, air, sea and rail.

Is your packaging UN-certified?

Yes. Our packaging carries genuine UN specification marks and is tested and certified for dangerous goods to ADR, RID, ADN, IATA and IMDG requirements. The UN mark (for example 4G/4GV or 4D/4DV) identifies the approved design type, the packing group and the standards the packaging was tested against.

Which dangerous goods regulations do your products comply with?

We work to the current regulations for every mode of transport: ADR/RID/ADN 2025 for road, rail and inland waterways, the IATA DGR 67th edition for air, and IMDG for sea. When a regulation moves to a new edition, our range and advice are updated accordingly.

What is the difference between hazard labels and placards?

Hazard labels are the diamond-shaped marks applied to individual packages and overpacks. Placards are the larger versions displayed on vehicles, containers and tanks. You generally need labels on your packages and, above certain quantity thresholds, placards on the transport unit. Both must match the class and UN number of the goods being carried.

What is the difference between 4G, 4GV, 4D and 4DV boxes?

4G is a UN-certified fibreboard (cardboard) box and 4D is a plywood box. The "V" versions (4GV, 4DV) are variation packagings tested to a higher performance, so they accept a wider range of contents and inner packagings without re-testing. Choose based on your substance, packing group and the packing instruction that applies.

How do I choose the right packaging for my dangerous goods?

Start from the UN number and proper shipping name of your substance, then check its packing group and the packing instruction in the applicable regulation (ADR, IATA or IMDG). These define which UN packaging types and quantities are allowed. Our free ADR 1.1.3.6 calculator and substance lookup help, and our MYDG.AI adviser or DGSA team can confirm the correct choice — just contact us.

How do I ship biological samples or diagnostic specimens (UN3373)?

Category B biological substances (UN3373) must be packed to packing instruction P650: a triple packaging with a leak-proof primary receptacle, leak-proof secondary packaging and a rigid outer marked with the UN3373 diamond. For temperature-sensitive samples we offer temperature-controlled 4GU packaging. See our pharma and biological packaging range, or contact us for the right kit.

How do I ship dry ice (UN1845)?

Dry ice (UN1845) is a dangerous good used as a refrigerant. It must travel in packaging that vents CO₂, be marked with the UN1845 label and the net quantity in kilograms, and — for air — declared in line with the IATA DGR. Use our free dry ice calculator to work out quantities and paperwork, and browse our dry ice labels.

What are Limited Quantities (LQ) and Excepted Quantities (EQ)?

Limited Quantities (LQ) and Excepted Quantities (EQ) are regulatory reliefs that let you ship small amounts of certain dangerous goods with reduced requirements, using specific marks instead of full labelling. The allowances depend on the substance and the mode of transport. We stock the LQ and EQ marks and can advise whether your shipment qualifies.

Do you offer dangerous goods training, and is it certified?

Yes. We provide certified online dangerous goods courses for logistics teams, freight forwarders, laboratories and warehouse staff, covering ADR, IATA DGR and IMDG awareness and function-specific duties. See our training section or contact us for team enrolment.

What is a DGSA, and do you provide DGSA consulting?

A DGSA (Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser) is a qualified professional required under ADR to monitor the safe transport of dangerous goods and advise on compliance. MYDG.SHOP is led by a certified DGSA and offers consulting across ADR, IMDG and IATA DGR — from classification and documentation to audits. Contact us to discuss your needs.

Do you ship internationally, and can I order as a business with a VAT invoice?

Yes. We ship from our own warehouse in Badajoz, Spain to businesses across Europe and beyond, and every order includes a proper VAT invoice (VAT ESB26607069). For bulk or recurring orders, or delivery timescales to your country, contact us.
